Chez les Grand Méres

Chateau la Gontrie is a wine producing chateau owned by Jean - Louis Rives and his Australian wife, Nola.

The sixteen hectare vineyard is situated on a gentle slope exposed to the south, only fifteen minutes drive from Bordeaux.

The Chateau was once a coach house where horses were changed and passengers were lodged overnight on their way to Bordeaux. The out buildings have been renovated into two independent gites : Le Pigeonnier et Chez les Grandes Mères Looking out on to a lawn that merges with the forest, summer evenings can be spent dining under the stars, enjoying the fine wines of the regions. The ground floor has a living room with television , and a kitchen equipped with dishwasher, washing machine and microwave.

Le Pigeonnier has four bedrooms, chez les Grands Mères has two bedrooms and each bedroom has its own shower, toilet and wash basin.

Baby sitting can be provided at a reasonable charge per hour.

Volley ball, badminton, table tennis, french bowls and bicycles are available free of charge. There is a shared pool of 6 x 12 meters and 2.5 meters deep, there is no safety fence around the pool.
