Moulded with earth, water and light, large plain fringed with the ocean, our region abounds in patrimonial treasures from all centuries and in natural sites of an exceptional beauty. The climate is so sweet and sunny that in a way it looks like the Mediterranean coast, but with less crowd, heat and stress and more green fields.

The gastronomy, as simple and solid as its inhabitants, is inspired by the double influence of the sea and the country: oysters, mussels, and other shellfish, snails (!), vegetable and pork products, poultries, butter, milk, goat and cow cheeses, Pineau, Cognac, wines etc.

Its cities knew how to keep a human size, its innumerable villages, hamlets, castles, manors are sprinkled within a very dense network of small roads and paths inviting to the promenade.
